This novel had a very fairy tale aspect to it that I adored. The initial spin of the money lender’s take on people who wouldn’t pay back, including the tugs of the heart, lead on wonderfully intriguing. I loved how the author played on the shifting of good and bad depending on perspective and motivation. This was an excellent read.
I tried using this as a comp title for my Breath of Meige manuscript, but now that I’ve read more, I see it was an ill choice. This novel was more fairy tale, Beauty in the Beast, fantasy and very feminine compared what I’m trying to pitch. This one is not a match at all to Curse of Crows manuscript (which has both a heavy male and female narrative). The readership of this reminds me of Obsidian Tower, which is noteworthy of the fantasy market in general. These are both good combos of good female stories in the fantasy genre.
