My husband injured his back pretty bad last weekend. This has shifted my responsibilities. I gladly fetch him ice packs, but I just want him to get better.
On the flip side, I received a rather kind rejection letter this week. Whether it was the agent’s stock rejection email or not, it felt personally crafted and inspiring, and actually made me feel good inside. I know. That’s odd. This is a subjective industry though, and right now, I’m subjectively aware that Ari’s story is tough to read. Hence…
This weekend, I’m focusing my energy on rewriting the first chapter of Ari’s story (again). While I like the first five pages, the rest may need resharpening and reassessed from an overall, higher level. I have a feeling agents/readers won’t get past the brutal machoism initially presented, when Ari is really just passing through. So I’m condensing the knight’s interactions and will submit that version to a few agents.
My second goal is to continue composing the second entry book. I was able to expand the male story last weekend and really like what came out of it. I hope to rework some of the female story passages this weekend, and then look at the overall picture to see how both stories fit together, keeping audience in mind.

Solved my brutality problem and several other unfortunate timing issues in the chapters from Meige‘s sequel. Ari’s sequel centers on a character that’s not Ari. I’ve decided to bring backstory chapters I’ve written about him from the sequel into Ari’s manuscript. So, polish those chapters… submit that material. That’s what I’m working on this weekend. Breakthrough. Yay.
