I’ve polished two character-driven, adult fantasy manuscripts where bronze is scarce and magic is questionable.

A Raven's Wrath

After the horses cease squealing in terror and the bronze blades lay hacked out of shape, Ari stumbles onto the battlefield to cart dead nobles home. Hiding in a grimy profession, nobody questions her past, and that suits her. Then peace ruins everything.

Led to a staggering defeat by bickering nobles, with her occupation eliminated, Ari scrambles for more than just curse words and a way to satisfy her growling gut. When a commission to spy ends in her girlfriend’s shattered skull, Ari rages over how the wealthy can continue to crush lives without consequence.

Yet what can she do? She is nobody, a tribe of one, just another flea on a bear.

But so is Waltaur, a brain-injured guardian hiding a young heir from his merciless mother.

And then there’s the meige. High on the treacherous mountains, nobody knows what the blooming moss wants, but it’s consuming souls to get it.

Curse of Crows

Phyllip has always protected others. His sister. The sheep. The men he commands. Lauryl. Protecting came easy.

So naturally he jumped at the chance to protect priest-king Wilame Wanaka, mortal husband of Astar, goddess of bronze and battle.

A regretful decision…

Now, Phyllip must find a way to protect an infant he’s charged to eliminate and prevent priestess-assassin Desma from slaying her either. The choice is grim. Deserters face execution, while tainted hearts must face the Ashibatuash arrows of truth. For they say the Ashibatuash can peer into one’s soul and eliminate corruption.

And yet, where there’s life, there is hope.

Though little remains of Phyllip’s once jovial, mischievous spirit, all he truly wants is to recover the harmony of his shattered soul.

I have a B.S. in Physics... I find it impossible to write sci-fi...

I love learning about civilizations from a sociological perspective. Environment forms customs and rituals that extend forward in time despite the change in that environment. History is older than what we can dig up. Warlords destroy our collective human knowledge when they burn libraries. I still morn for Nineveh, Alexandria, Copan and Timbuktu.
